Accepting these terms

These terms cover your use of the Heatwise Columbia Insulation Company website and any work you ask us to do. When you use this site, call us, send our contact form or approve an estimate, you agree to these terms, so please read them before you do.

If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site or book work with us. You can still call us at (573) 289-3994 with any question before you decide.

What we do

Heatwise Columbia Insulation Company is an insulation contractor in Columbia, MO. We insulate and air seal attics, walls, crawl spaces and basements. That covers blown-in insulation, which is loose fill blown through a hose, plus spray foam, vapor barriers and removal of old insulation, for homes and businesses in Columbia and the cities around it.

The descriptions on our home page and service pages explain the work in general terms. What we'll actually do at your property is set out in your written estimate or contract, and that document controls if it says something different from this site.

Estimates and pricing

We give free estimates at your property, with no pressure and no obligation. We price from what we see on site, including the size of the space, how much old insulation is already up there, what shape it's in, how hard it is to reach and which material you choose.

An estimate is our best figure for the work it describes, based on what we can see before the job starts. Some things only show once the job is open, like wet or contaminated insulation, damaged framing or hidden gaps. If we find something that changes the scope or the price, we'll stop, show you and get your approval before we do the added work.

Prices in an estimate hold for the period written on it. After that, we may need to update the figure because material costs change.

Scheduling, access and cancellation

We'll agree on a start date with you and do our best to keep it. Weather, material delivery, illness or problems found on an earlier job can push a date, and if that happens we'll tell you as soon as we know and set a new one with you.

You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area and to clear stored items from the attic, crawl space or rooms we need to reach, unless your estimate says we'll handle that. Some materials, spray foam in particular, need everyone out of the house for a set time, so we'll tell you before the job when you need to leave and when it's safe for you, your kids and your pets to come back. Please follow those instructions, because they come from the material's maker.

If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please call us at least 24 hours ahead. If your contract includes a deposit or special-order material, it will say what happens to that money if you cancel.

Payment

Your estimate or contract sets out how much is due, when it's due and how you can pay. Unless it says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is finished.

If a payment is late, we may pause further work until it's settled, and we may add the reasonable costs of collecting it where Missouri law allows.

Warranties and disclaimers

Any warranty on our workmanship is the one written in your contract, and materials carry whatever warranty their makers provide. We'll give you that information with your paperwork, so you know what each one covers.

Beyond those written warranties, our work and this website are provided as they are. We don't promise a set drop in your power bill or a set change in comfort, because results depend on your house, your heating and cooling system and how you use them.

The information on this site is general and isn't advice for your particular house. Please talk with us before relying on it for a decision about your home.

Limits on our liability

To the extent Missouri law allows, our total liability for any claim tied to our work is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We aren't responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of a room or lost income, or for delays outside our control.

We also aren't responsible for problems caused by conditions we couldn't reasonably see before starting, by work done by others or by changes made after we finish. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Settling disputes

If something about our work isn't right, call us first, because most problems get fixed fastest when we come back out and look at them together. We'll aim for a fair fix.

If we can't settle it that way, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before going to court. Any lawsuit that follows will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Boone County, Missouri.

Governing law

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its rules on conflicts of law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one in effect. Changes don't affect a contract you've already signed, which stays under the terms that applied when you signed it.
