About our Columbia insulation contractor company
How I came to insulate Columbia homes
I spent my first years in this trade selling insulation jobs for another company, and I got tired of quoting work I couldn't explain from start to finish. So I learned the install side under seasoned installers and started Heatwise Columbia Insulation Company here in Columbia in 2023, because I wanted to explain every line I quote.
Most of my calls come from people with a hot upstairs, a drafty older house or a crawl space that worries them, plus some property managers with commercial buildings. What I care about is that you know exactly what you bought, down to where each material went and why. If your roof leaks, I'd rather tell you to fix that first than bury the problem under new insulation. Before we schedule, we check with the building office for your address about whether a permit is needed. Inside Columbia's city limits that's the city's own office, and outside them it's Boone County. If a permit is needed, we apply for it and tell you what we found.
How our crew does the work
A written estimate you can follow
Your estimate lists each area, the material and the depth we plan, so you can see exactly what you're paying for. If I spot damp wood or old wiring while I'm measuring, I write that down too, along with what should be fixed first.
Air sealing before the insulation
Before any insulation goes in, we close the gaps around can lights, pipes and the attic hatch. If those gaps stay open, your new insulation spends its life fighting a draft.
Photos of spaces you won't crawl into
We take photos before and after, so you can see your attic or crawl space without climbing up there yourself. You see what was there when we arrived and what we put in.
The person who quoted it checks it
I measure your job and write the estimate, our install crew does the work, and then I check the finished job with you. That way the person who told you what you'd get is the one who signs off on it.
